The Vine Bistro Has Been Nominated as a 2026 Eat Out Neighbourhood Gem
We’re delighted to share that The Vine Bistro at Glenelly Estate has been nominated as a 2026 Eat Out Neighbourhood Gem, brought to you by Woolworths.
What makes this particularly pleasing is who it comes from. Eat Out Neighbourhood Gems isn’t a public vote or a critic’s list. Nominations come exclusively from chefs, restaurant owners and food professionals around the country — the people who eat out constantly, who know what consistency looks like, and who understand what it actually takes to deliver something special night after night. Being nominated means people inside the industry think The Vine Bistro is worth coming back to. And that’s not nothing.
What Is the Eat Out Neighbourhood Gems Award?
Eat Out Neighbourhood Gems is a recognition platform by Eat Out, South Africa’s most respected restaurant guide, powered by Media24. It runs separately from the Eat Out Star awards and does not affect eligibility for one. These are two distinct recognitions, both meaningful in their own right. Nominated restaurants are featured in the Eat Out Neighbourhood Gems online directory at neighbourhoodgems.eatout.co.za.
About The Vine Bistro at Glenelly Estate
The Vine Bistro is located at Glenelly Estate in Ida’s Valley, Stellenbosch, with views across the Simonsberg vineyards that change with every season. The kitchen is led by chef patron Christophe Dehosse, a classically trained French chef who has been cooking in the Cape Winelands for decades. The menu reflects that French influence without being rigid about it. Honest, seasonal cooking that complements the wines made on the estate.
The current winter menu leans into French farmhouse classics. A traditional cassoulet Toulouse style with pork belly, duck confit and pork sausage, a bavette à l’échalote with chips, chou farci with sauerkraut and wholegrain mustard, and a proper soupe à l’oignon au gratin to start. Desserts include profiteroles au chocolat with homemade vanilla ice cream and a prune and brandy ice cream with Chantilly and chocolate meringue. Two courses with wine pairing are available from R410, three courses from R450, paired with wines from the Glenelly Glass Collection.
A Restaurant Worth the Drive
